ISAT (Illinois Standards Achievement Test) testing will take place starting on Thursday, March 4th through Wednesday, March 10th for students in grades 3rd - 5th.
The results of the testing will show us how well our school and district are doing in meeting state goals.

As is true every day of the school year, you can help your child do his/her best by:

	•	making sure your child attends school on the days of testing
	•	reminding your child to ask questions if he/she does not understand directions
	•	letting your child know that you have confidence in his/her ability
	•	advising your child not to worry about the test and just do the best that he/she can
	•	making sure your child gets a good night’s sleep the night before testing
	•	providing a nutritious breakfast on the morning of testing

Inline Skating in PE classes begins March 2nd

We Need Parent Volunteers!
All students, grades 1-5, will be inline skating in Physical Education classes starting March 2nd through March 12th, 2010.

Please make sure your child has a good pair of socks on, and that they wear comfortable clothing. The skating company provides safety equipment (helmets and wrist guards), but children are strongly encouraged to bring their own helmet from home, and keep it in their locker, until we are done skating. Be sure to have your student’s name on any equipment brought from home.

We need 3-5 parent volunteers for the 1st and 2nd grade class periods, to help the children put their skates on. You may also help with skating skills taught by the PE teachers. At the end of class you will help the children take off their skating equipment and store it properly for the next class.

Gym class times:

•	Ms. Bechler’s 2nd grade: Daily 10:05-10:45
•	Mrs. Timony and Mrs. Szoke’s 2nd grade: Daily 12:05-12:45
•	All three 1st grades: Daily 10:45-11:25

If you can help, please email , with the days and time you can volunteer in your child’s PE class. You will receive a confirmation e-mail. If you prefer, you may send a note with your child to the PE staff with the days and times you are able to volunteer.

With the parent’s help, students will have more time for skating practice. We really appreciate your assistance. The first four days are the most crucial for help!!

Thank you for your time to help make our inline skating experience a “Wheelie” Great Time!!

We would like to thank all of our teachers, staff, parent organizers, Aspen and Glasser Faculty for their time and dedication in making the third annual Family University a huge success.
We had 94 participants this year. The parents learned a lot of wonderful new tools to use at home, and the kids had a great morning having fun with their teachers while learning about their basic needs and how to meet them responsibly. Families completed puzzle pieces together on what they learned, and we all dined on delicious hot pasta and chicken from Go Roma!.

We need your feedback to make this program even better next year! If you attended the program, please take a moment to complete an evaluation form and send it to school. Please help your children complete an evaluation form as well. To download copies of the evaluation forms, please click here.

Winter Weather Reminders

It is always amazing how quickly the weather outside changes. With the coming of the snow and winter weather here are a few reminders for the upcoming months:

Students will be going outside for recess if the temperature is at or above 10 degrees actual temperature OR wind-chill.

Students should be appropriately dressed for cold weather and wear or bring to school their “5 points.” When snow covers the ground students should wear a coat, hat, gloves, snow pants and snow boots in order to play on the playground at recess. It they do not have ALL of these things they will be limited to the blacktop area.

If your child is not feeling well, we ask that you use your best judgment regarding their attendance at school. Students must be fever free for 24 hours before they can come back to school after an illness.

We are taking many precautions to ensure a clean and healthy environment and ask that you please do the same. Encourage your child to wash their hands frequently as this is the greatest way to curb transmission of germs.

Thank you for helping keep the school a safe and healthy place for all of our children. I look forward to all of the students being healthy enough to enjoy this great winter season.
