Study Tips

1. Establish certain times each day for your child to take care of responsibilities.
(e.g., feeding the dog, completing homework, packing bookbag)

2. Post a list of your child's responsibilities.
(e.g., 1. Take out the trash, 2. Feed the dog, 3. Pack bookbag)

3. Provide your child with shelving, containers, organizers, for his/her possessions.

4. Label the storage areas and require your child to keep his/her possessions together.

5. Assist your child in performing his/her responsibilities. Gradually require your child to
independently assume more responsibilities as he/she demonstrates success.

6. Establish a routine for getting ready for school.

7. Use motivators for your child (e.g., "If you get ready for school on time, you can help decide what
to have for breakfast." If you pick up your toys before dinner, you can choose your seat at the
table."
