As we settle in to the 2008-2009 school year, I will be reviewing health records of preschoolers, kindergartners, and students new to the District. I will notify parents of any deficiencies.

Please feel free to call me with any health concerns or questions. I am looking forward to a working with you and your child this coming year.

All medication must be sent home on or before the last day of school. You will be receiving a letter in May regarding this as well as a new medication administration form for next year. The State of Illinois requires that a new medication administration form be completed each school year.

The flu and strep season are here! Please reinforce with your child the importance of washing their hands, using tissues, eating healthy, and not sharing drinks. Studies support that getting enough sleep also helps build the immune system. Please help us keep our school healthy by keeping your child home if ill. Thank you for your help.

Just a reminder that all incoming kindergarters, second graders and sixth graders need to have a completed dental form on file and all kindergarters and fifth graders must have a completed physical exam on file.

Children Who Receive Medication At School

All medications kept at school will need to be taken home at the end of the school year. I will be sending home a letter regarding this in May.

All medication, even over-the-counter, needs to have a physcician order to be given at school. I have special medication administration forms that must be completed by the doctor and the parent every year.

Health Examination Requirements

The State of Illinois requires that all students entering kindergarten and fifth grade have a physical exam dated on or after 9/01/07 and all their immunizations must be up to date. In addition, all students entering kindergarten and second grade are required to have a completed dental exam on file by May 2008. You may give me the required forms whenever they are completed.
