THIS WEEK AT SCHOOL:

MATH: We started a review unit of place value, and practiced writing numbers in expanded, standard, and word form.

VOCABULARY/ SPELLING: This week we took a pretest, and will begin our 1st unit next week. Remember that homework and weekly test will be on Fridays.

READING: We read a story about a :"Boom Town." We also discussed realism, and fantasy. Students also discovered how they can use our prior knowledge to help figure out the meaning of new words. We also talked about short vowels and homophones.

SCIENCE: We talked about our caterpillars. We read some books and talked about the life cycle. Then students learned a song to help them remember the parts of a butterfly.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! It was very nice to see so many families at Back to School Night.
