I'd like to thank all the Aspen Resident Experts for working so hard all year to make sure the morning broadcast was up and running every day. It was nice to see so many parents at our end-of-the-year party also. Wow, our kindergarten classes are in the Tech Lab learning the basics of computer use. Thank you to the teachers who are patiently helping them as they begin their digital journey. Click HERE to see the our youngest students hard at work in the Tech Lab.

As of today, March 17th, Mrs. Schrems has taken a position on the Dist. 73 Tech Team, as the Tech Facilitator housed at Middle North. Aspen thanks Mrs. Schrems for all she has done for us, and wish her luck in her new position.

The new Tech Rotation Aide will be announced shortly.

This year at Aspen we are pleased to have a Technology rotation which brings all students in 1st - 5th grades into the Tech Lab for computer related instruction. (In a 6 day rotation your children will have 2 days each of Art, Music and Technology.) Mrs. Vrabel, Mrs. Meiners and Mrs. Schrems teach students everything from basic computer use to PowerPoint presentation creations. The Technology Committee at Aspen felt that all students would benefit from hands on experience to meet state standards.

How can we help our children at home? Keyboarding is a very important skill that needs constant practice. All students at Hawthorn have a Custom Typing login and password, which they can use from home or any computer that has Internet access. Please encourage your child to log onto http://www.customtyping.com/ and spend some time using proper hand position while they master this lifelong skill. Can't remember your child's login/password? We are pleased to say we are listening, Aspen parents, and have created a new Staff Directory link for your communication needs. This directory will easily connect you to any Aspen staff with names, positions, phone numbers and email addresses of the staff. You will find it in the links to the left on this page.

Please keep in mind that staff will be working with and for our children during the work day (and often beyond) so we ask that you be patient when awaiting a reply. If you have an emergency situation that needs immediate attention please call the school main office at 847-990-4300 and speak with one of the office staff.
